Abha’ is a re-imagined telling of the epic story Ramayana, emphasizing the agency of Sita, her choices, and the strength of her character. Abha means “brightness” and this retelling emphasizes a viewing of this timeless tale from the female protagonist’s perpective – one who is not a pawn in a bigger game, but rather is an empowered actor in her own right, directing events to a desired consequence. Abha will be followed by Nagamandala, a restaged folktale from Northern Karnataka.
Run time: Approximately 170 minutes, includes 30 minute intermission.
Age policy: Recommended for ages 8 and up. No babies in arms. All patrons require a ticket regardless of age.
