Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company is thrilled to present the return of a show for all ages, The Live Creature & Ethereal Things as well as a world premiere by Company Artistic Director Daniel Charon.
To honor the breadth of the Utah dance community’s talent, this program will include a world premiere by Artistic Director, Daniel Charon including a collaboration with Utah Valley University’s Department of Dance. Ririe-Woodbury will incorporate the beautiful dancers of UVU as part of this large-scale work to embrace the grandeur of the Capitol Theatre stage.
Returning to the Capitol Theatre after a successful 2019 premiere, Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company will present a re-envisioned version of The Live Creature & Ethereal Things. Featured in this year’s production is guest artist Tito Vilas. Tito not only brings inspiring musical theater talent to the production but also enables the company to continue to develop it’s bilingual programming as a way to be more inclusive to our local Spanish speaking community. Also new this year are magical storybook style projections by Nicolas Ridruejo that will immerse the audience deeper into this extraordinary world. This curious and shapeshifting theatrical quest, created with local collaborators Alexandra Harbold and Robert Scott Smith of Flying Bobcat Theatrical Laboratory features an original cinematic score by John Paul Hayward and includes text and lyrics by New York playwright Troy Deutsch. Inspired by the Red Fred Project founded by Executive Director Dallas Graham, The Live Creature & Ethereal Things features the Jolly Troop, a group of larger-than-life birds that guide audiences of all ages through a surprising journey and asks, “If you could tell a story and share it with the entire world, what story would you tell?” The newly re-envisioned version includes storytelling in both English and Spanish.
