“From Cauvery to Colorado”
From the Cauvery River in Tamilnadu, India, to the Colorado in the USA, from the Ganga to the Jordan river and the great Salt Lake, we explore the myriad ways in which we conceptualize, worship, use and abuse our most abundant yet scarce natural resource – Water. We hope to leave the audience reflecting on how our conception and abstraction of the role rivers play in our lives, can influence (or not ?) the way in which we conserve/preserve/respect this resource. We will be weaving in a section on the Great Salt Lake and its place in our lives, collaborating with Nan Seymour, our resident poet advocate for the Great Salt lake. The medium of storytelling is the South Indian classical Dance of Bharatanatyam, but the stories will span cultures and histories and continents. Featuring all new music composition and choreography and dancers from the Chitrakaavya Dance ensemble, this is a production bridging the ancient and the modern, addressing universal human concerns.
Run time: 1.5 hours including 15 minute intermission.
Recommended for ages 8 and up. Infants not admitted. All patrons require a ticket regardless of age.
