Based on Stephen King’s spine-tingling novel, The Shining plunges you into a realm of isolation, psychological unraveling, and sinister forces. When Jack Torrance accepts a winter caretaker job at the remote Overlook Hotel, his hope for a fresh start turns into a desperate struggle to keep his family together amid its overpowering, dark influence. Debuted in 2016 by the Pulitzer Prize-winning duo of composer Paul Moravec and librettist Mark Campbell, this opera marries gripping storytelling with an evocative, modern score. Whether you’re a seasoned opera aficionado or new to the genre, its suspenseful story and haunting music promise an unforgettable experience during the Halloween season.
