The Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company is thrilled to announce the launch of its 61st Season, a dynamic celebration of contemporary dance that embodies progress, innovation, and a sense of community. Renowned for its commitment to making contemporary dance accessible and valuable to all, Ririe-Woodbury continues to explore transformative ways
to engage and inspire through the art of dance.
This season, audiences can look forward to a series of electrifying performances featuring works by acclaimed guest choreographers. The fall performance of RE-PLAY will include the return of the physically theatrical and witty, The Bunker by LajaMartin; the Company premiere of Monica Bill Barnes’s Wish You Were Here, which will include guest dancers from UVU, BYU,
Weber State, SUU, U of U and Westminster College; and a world premier by Company Artistic Director Daniel Charon. The winter performance of RE-MIX features three compelling and thought-provoking dances including, the return of Scenes for and Ending by Raja Feather Kelly, coincidences, when we meet up by jo Blake, as well as the Company premiere of the mesmerizing, The Rate We Change by local artist Kellie St. Pierre. The last performance of the season, RE-ACT, features a world premiere by Charon, created with long-time collaborator and theater director Alexandra Harbold. This performance will also presenta piece by the selected choreographer from the new Choreographic Canvas commission, which the Company is
launching this season. The Choreographic Canvas commission is a new annual initiative designed to foster a diversity of artistic voices and provide a platform for emerging choreographers to explore new ideas and develop their artistic voice. These visionary artists are set to bring their unique perspectives and groundbreaking choreography to the stage, promising
a season rich with creativity and artistic excellence.

Moving Parts Family and Sensory Friendly Performances:
Our Moving Parts Family and Sensory Friendly Performances are modified theater productions of our Season shows with accommodations for individuals with sensory sensitivities, a shortened show, ASL interpretation, and narration providing insights to the art of dance. The interactive performance is casual, wiggle-friendly, and designed to allow for audience movement and vocal reactions. Moving Parts is well suited for individuals with a variety of needs, including, but not limited to: young children and their families, people with neurodivergence, people who are deaf or hard of hearing, as well as first-time theatergoers. The staff and dancers are trained to accommodate audience needs and responses. Everyone is welcome to enjoy the relaxed dance performance in their own unique way, without the constraints of traditional theater etiquette. These performances will take place on Saturday, September 23, 2023, Saturday, February 3, 2024, and Saturday, April 20, 2024, from 1-2 PM.
