PERFORMANCES

Performance slots on-stage range from 30-60 minutes and there are multiple stages designed to accommodate groups of all sizes. Performance slot and location will be determined by event organizers. All performance positions are paid. Buskers and aerial artists are encouraged to apply. 

Main Stage

Large proscenium theatre with two levels of audience seating. Will primarily feature performances that require a large space for movement, or groups with a large number of performers.

Studio 5400 Black Box

A black box-style theater with stadium-style seating on one side of the space. Will primarily feature small to mid-sized groups in a black box style presentation. 

Centennial Room

Large, open mirrored space that will primarily feature interactive, family-friendly activities. 

Outdoor Plaza Stage

A small, covered outdoor stage on the plaza equipped with audio and lighting that will primarily feature live music and poetry. 

Indoor Lobby

Features aerialist ambiance, live music, and community booths. 

 

ARTIST MARKET

The artist market is located outdoors on the plaza at Mid-Valley Performing Arts Center. For vendors with accessibility needs, we also offer limited booth spaces in the lobby. Vendors are required to commit to the full duration of the festival. The booth fee to participate is $40, and accepted vendors are required to have commercial general liability insurance. If you do not have existing general liability insurance, there are several companies that offer event-specific policies. Salt Lake County Arts & Culture does not take a commission on booth sales.

Alex Elggren (16) is a singer and recording artist from South Jordan. He has released several original songs written and produced in Nashville and performs regularly at festivals, restaurants, and concert series throughout Utah.

Charlotte Tracie (16) began as a classical violinist before expanding into jazz, bluegrass, rock, and country. She currently serves as Principal Second Violinist of the Lyceum Philharmonic Orchestra.

Together, Alex and Charlotte perform Americana music featuring bluegrass, western swing, and classic country influences.

Allbrook Station

Allbrook Station is an American pop rock band formed in Salt Lake City in 2024. Led by Burke Louis, Jessie Gomez, Nate Smeding, and DJ Frank Zoo, the band combines arena-sized hooks with modern rock attitude and energy.

Signed to Create Music Group and Samsa Records, the band quickly amassed more than one million streams following the release of their debut single, Chimerical, in 2025. Since earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Music, Allie has performed with artists including Kurt Bestor, Jon Batiste, Olivia Rodrigo, Lindsey Stirling, and many others. While classically trained, she enjoys bringing her energetic pop and rock repertoire to festivals and community events.

Ezequiel Busquets

Shoreline Sentinels of Great Salt Lake

Shoreline Sentinels of Great Salt Lake is a 17-minute documentary exploring the lives of Snowy Plovers and the conservation efforts working to protect them along the shores of Great Salt Lake.

The film follows National Audubon Society and Tracy Aviary staff and volunteers as they study how recreation impacts these remarkable shorebirds while highlighting a species many Utahns don’t even realize calls the lake home.

Shonnie’s Studio of Art is built on a lifelong passion for creativity and the belief that art has the power to heal, inspire, and bring people together. After years of teaching, creating commissioned artwork, and exhibiting throughout Utah, Shonnie continues to share that passion through community events and hands-on experiences.

Festival guests are invited to enjoy colorful face painting and handmade glitter tattoos using professional, skin-safe materials.

Tablado Dance Company

Directed by Solange Gomes, Tablado Dance Company is dedicated to sharing the dance, music, and culture of Spain while preserving the rich traditions of flamenco in Utah. For more than 25 years, the company has captivated audiences through passionate performances that showcase the emotion, artistry, and cultural heritage of this iconic dance form.

Their CultureFest performance features traditional flamenco dances accompanied by live music, castanets, hand fans, and shawls.

The “Great” Demonio

The “Great” Demonio is the speaking close-up variation of Javier Montelongo’s award-winning Demonio character. Blending dark humor, comedy, and astonishing sleight of hand, Demonio roams throughout the festival creating unforgettable moments with interactive close-up magic for guests of all ages.

Expect plenty of laughs, surprises, and impossible illusions around every corner.

The Rustmonster’s Pirate Band

The Rustmonster’s Pirate Band is a high-energy crew of lifelong Utah musicians blending original pirate rock, folk, funk, and comedy into a one-of-a-kind live experience. Armed with sea-soaked storytelling, driving rhythms, and plenty of absurdity, they transform every performance into a swashbuckling adventure.

Their fully costumed eleven-piece ensemble delivers unforgettable entertainment for pirates of all ages.

Vaudeville Underground

Vaudeville Underground Circus Company is a daring multidisciplinary troupe of aerialists, pole artists, contortionists, and clowns built on the belief that every body type, identity, and background deserves a place in the circus arts.

Their high-energy variety show combines aerial fabrics, acrobatics, clowning, and gravity-defying artistry into an unforgettable performance celebrating strength, creativity, humor, and human connection.

WestSide Dance

Performance: Saturday, August 15 • North Studio • 5:30–7:00 PM

Founded in 1997, WestSide Dance is Utah’s first all-youth Ballet Folklórico organization. For nearly three decades, the group has celebrated the vibrant traditions of Mexican culture while providing more than 500 young dancers with opportunities to learn, perform, and share their heritage.

Their interactive CultureFest workshop welcomes participants of all ages to learn traditional Mexican folk dances before enjoying children’s folk crafts and paper flower making.

Xiamu Art

Xiamu is a queer Taiwanese American artist who has been drawing for as long as they can remember. They specialize in creating custom hand-drawn portraits and love seeing the smiles that their artwork brings to festival guests and their families.

When is the festival?

Westside CultureFest is August 14-15, 2026 from 4:30-10:00 pm MDT at Mid-Valley Performing Arts Center in Taylorsville, UT.

Is the festival free to attend?

Yes! Westside CultureFest is free to attend and does not require a ticket.

Is there parking at Mid-Valley Performing Arts Center?

Yes, there is free parking at Mid-Valley Performing Arts Center. It is located on the North side of the building.

Is there food and drink at the festival?

Yes, there are food trucks and concessions, including a festival bar located outdoors for patrons 21+. 

Is the festival indoors or outdoors?

Both! There are performances indoors and outdoors, including interactive activities for all ages.

Is the festival ADA accessible?

Yes, Mid-Valley Performing Arts Center is ADA accessible. All Westside CultureFest programming is accessible from the first floor of the venue. Accessible bathrooms are located inside on the first floor.

The Main Stage and Studio 5400 have dedicated ADA seating. The lobby, Centennial Room, and North Studio have flexible seating options with ample space for wheelchairs or other mobility aids. The Outdoor Stage does not have set seating.

What should I bring to attend Westside CultureFest?

We recommend bringing water, sunscreen, and money (if you wish to purchase food, drink, or artwork). All performances and interactive workshops are free. This festival is appropriate for all ages.

I’ve never been to Mid-Valley Performing Arts Center before. What is it?

Located in Taylorsville, the Mid-Valley Performing Arts Center brings premiere performance and rehearsal spaces to the middle and southwest sections of the valley.

This thoughtfully designed venue includes the 400-seat Main-Stage Theatre; the 200-seat Studio 5400 black box theater; and the Centennial Room, a fully functional rehearsal and event space; and professional theater staff and services. Mid-Valley provides the opportunity for performing organizations to showcase their art in this fast-growing area of Salt Lake County.

Who is putting on the festival?

Westside CultureFest is produced by Salt Lake County Arts & Culture. As a division of Salt Lake County, Salt Lake County Arts & Culture has supported arts organizations with our spaces, places, and services since 1977.

Our Places are among the premier performance venues in Utah: Maurice Abravanel Hall, Janet Quinney Lawson Capitol Theatre, George S. and Dolores Doré Eccles Theater, Mid-Valley Performing Arts Center, and Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center. As County operated facilities, our venues give home to the arts and gathering places to the community.

We also provide Spaces and Services to arts organizations and the public alike, including performance, rehearsal, event, and reception spaces; and ArtTix ticketing, event and technical services, the Art in Public Places program, and our Residency program.

This festival was created and run for the first two years in partnership with Utah Arts Alliance. We are honored to have had them as partners and are excited to continue the festival.
